Cancellation & refund policy

Last updated: November 2026

This page explains how cancellations and refunds work for trips arranged through BengalTiger.in.

[IMPORTANT: The cancellation timelines and percentages below are a working draft. Replace them with the actual terms agreed with your operating partners before taking any payment, and have them reviewed by your accountant or legal advisor.]

1. Which terms apply

Your trip is fulfilled and invoiced by an operating partner, whose cancellation terms are provided to you in writing before you pay. Where those terms differ from this page, the terms in your booking confirmation apply.

2. How to cancel

Cancellations must be sent to us in writing at
[contact email]
. The date we receive your written notice is the date used to calculate any charges.

3. Cancellation charges

[DRAFT — replace with your partners' actual terms:] More than 45 days before arrival: loss of deposit. 30 to 45 days: 25% of the trip cost. 15 to 29 days: 50% of the trip cost. 7 to 14 days: 75% of the trip cost. Less than 7 days or no-show: 100% of the trip cost.

4. Safari permits are treated separately

Safari permit fees are paid to the forest department at the time of booking and are governed by the department's own refund rules. Permits are commonly non-refundable and non-transferable once issued, regardless of when you cancel. Any permit refund depends entirely on the department.

5. Peak dates

Bookings covering Diwali, Christmas, New Year, the park reopening period and other peak dates may carry stricter terms set by lodges and operators. These are told to you before you confirm.

6. If we or the operator cancel

If your trip cannot go ahead for reasons within our or the operating partner's control, you will be offered alternative dates or a refund of amounts paid, excluding any non-refundable forest department fees.

7. Park closures and forest department decisions

If a park, zone or drive is closed or cancelled by the authorities, we and the operating partner will arrange a reasonable alternative where possible, such as a different zone or gate. Refunds in these situations are limited to what the forest department and suppliers release, and are handled case by case.

8. Circumstances outside control

Where travel is prevented by events outside reasonable control, including weather, natural events, government restrictions or transport disruption, refunds depend on what suppliers release. We will pass on whatever we recover.

9. Changes to a booking

Date changes, traveller name changes and itinerary changes are subject to availability and to supplier and forest department rules. Some changes, particularly to issued permits, may not be possible at all.

10. Refund processing

Approved refunds are made to the original payment method by the entity that invoiced you.
[Add expected processing time once confirmed with your partners.]

11. Insurance

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, medical costs and trip disruption. Many cancellation charges are recoverable under a good policy.
