When to go

Currently in monsoon closure — reopens 15 October. Advance enquiries recommended for opening weeks.

Oct–Nov

Reopening — lush green meadows, waterfalls still flowing, cool damp air on the sal drives.

Dec–Feb

Cool misty mornings on the sal meadows and excellent birding — carry warm layers, mornings can touch 2°C.

Mar–May

Hot dry days as the sal forest thins and tigers concentrate around waterholes and the golden meadows.

Jul–Sep

Monsoon — park closed, the forest regenerates.
